Hello, residents of Ashby-cum-Fenby!
We have some fantastic news to share with you regarding our application to the NELC Minor Highways Scheme. After a thorough review by the highways team, the portfolio holder has approved several recommendations to enhance our village's safety and charm. Here's a quick rundown of the upcoming improvements:
-
Duck Crossing Sign on Main Road: We're thrilled to announce the installation of a "duck crossing sign" near the village pond. This will provide additional warning on the blind bend, helping to prevent unnecessary animal/vehicle collisions. 🦆🚗
-
Indicative cost: £300
-
-
Fly Tipping Signage on Barton Street: To tackle the persistent issue of fly tipping in the two laybys on Barton Street, NELC will be installing new signage. With 24 reported incidents in 2024 alone, this measure aims to deter such activities and keep our village clean and beautiful. 🚮
-
Indicative cost: £600
-
-
No Through Road Sign Replacement: While the request to replace the "No Through Road" sign at the entrance of Hall Farm access road won't be funded through this scheme, rest assured it will be addressed via the highway maintenance workstream. We anticipate this will be completed early in 2025. 🚧
-
Roadside Mirrors on Main Road: Although the request to install mirrors on the bends where Main Road joins with Ashby Lane was not recommended, the site will be monitored for any road safety issues. Should there be evidence of a problem, we will consider options to resolve it. 🛣️
We hope these updates bring a smile to your face and make our village an even better place to live. If you have any questions or need further information, please feel free to reach out.
Warm regards, your Parish Council 😊
